Prevention, Protection and Health Conference 2018

Time: 15th - 16th October 2018

We are delighted to announce this years Prevention, Protection and Health Conference will take place on 15th-16th October at the Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport Hotel.

The conference will begin at lunchtime on 15th with an afternoon focussing on Prevention and Health.  The first session will see presentations on how the prevention committee are working towards achieving the following commitments in their 4 key areas:


* Reducing the risk to vulnerable people within the home environment

* Raising awareness of the risk of harm and associated prevention and protection measures to improve the safety and citizenship of young people.

* Improving road safety and reduce collisions, deaths and injuries on the road network

* Improving water safety awareness and reduce the number of drownings


Following on from the prevention sessions we will see input from the Strategic Health Committee on the role of the Fire and Rescue Service in delivering integrated fire and health interventions and demonstrating positive outcomes from local fire and health projects.


The following morning will focus on Protection, in particular the future of building fire safety standards. Presentations will include:

* Opening from our Protection and Business Safety Committee Chair, Mark Hardingham

* The Role of Fire and Rescue Services in Improving Housing Fire Safety

* Joint Competent Authority

* Desktop and combustible cladding consultations and technical review of ADB


As in previous years the conference will begin at lunchtime on 15th and conclude at lunchtime on 16th with a networking dinner on the evening of 15th.
